Kyoto Filmmakers Lab partnered with the Biennale College Cinema, which is a human resource development project of the Venice International Film Festival anew!

With the cooperation of Istituto Italiano di Cultura Osaka, Kyoto Filmmakers Lab, a human resource development program of Kyoto HISTORICA International Film Festival, has partnered with the Biennale College Cinema, the Biennale College Cinema, which is a human resource development project of the Venice International Film Festival. Participants can learn how the International Film Festival planning will be decided and thereby understand the first step to be selected at the Biennale College Cinema.

Biennale College Cinema, which selects three from filmmaking projects submitted from around the world and subsidize the three projects for filmmaking, supports script development and casting. It is a distinctive program that began in 2011 with the initiative of Mr. Alberto Barbera of the current festival director. In Japanese movies, Koki Hasei’s “Blanka” was chosen in 2014. Biennale College Cinema VR which focused on virtual reality works started from last year.

At this year’s Kyoto Filmmakers Lab, two films selected by Biennale College Cinema will be screened and each director will participate in the workshop. At the Masters session, their filmmaking process and advice on Biennale College Cinema will be introduced. In addition, A program staff, Ms. Valentina Bellomo will give a presentation on how participants should make films, which can attract attentions at international film festival, and on trends of Biennale College Cinema and how to apply.
