How to Apply
If you are interested in applying, please read through the following submission rules.The Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab targets the participants for a workshop around 20 people. Participants will be selected from the selection committee of the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2010.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
We aren’t able to issue VISA document this year. We only accept participants from “Countries and Regions That Have Visa Exemption Arrangements with Japan (61 countries)” OR applicant who is currently living in Japan. Please see the list of the countries (MOFA website) that have the visa exemption agreement with Japan before you apply. We Apologize for any inconvenience.
Submission Period
September 1 to October 15, 2010 (Please make sure your sample of work arrives in Kyoto-Lab office by this date.)
Participant Eligibility
1)You are a film school graduate OR graduate in a film program, OR you have a professional experience in a film industry (producing, directing, editing, cinematography, sound design, etc.,) OR you have a professional experience in videogame industry OR you have a professional experience in animation industry OR you have worked at least one short or feature length film.
2)Kyoto Filmmakers Lab is no restriction on gender.
3) You must be able to communicate in English.
4) You can submit application and sample of works.5) We DO NOT accept team appication (indivisual submission only).
6) You must be able to attend at least all 5 days programs from December 7 to 10, 2010. You must be able to stay together in hostel (Machiya Studio) during the Filmmakers’ Lab 2010.

Online Application will be open on September 1.
Sample of Work Submission Regulations
*Your sample of works must have been completed after January 1, 2006.
*Your sample of work within THREE MINUTES in length your sample of work should be in English or English subtitles.
*You must send us your DVD by mail.
• DVD videos: We accept DVD NTSC/PAL, and any region codes.
• Digital format files: files can either be encoded with QuickTime, MPEG2, or MPEG4. (DVD discs need to be finalized.)
• We DO NOT accept CD, Digi-Beta, Mini DV, OR any other formats.
• Your DVD should be clearly labeled with your name, confirmation number, title of your sample of work, type of your DVD format, and e-mail address or phone number (see figure).

• Applicants are only allowed ONE sample of work per entry.
• You can send anything you think is worth showing.
• Applicants can own copyrights of their sample of works. Applicants must have or clear all copyrighted materials included in their sample of work
• All materials submitted for sample of work will not be returned.
• NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO SAMPLE OF WORK SUBMISSION.

Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab 2010 agreement
1. The participant hereby agrees that his/her photograph and data may be published on the website and in the magazine of Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2010.
2. The participant agrees that his/her sample of work submitted to Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2010 may be shown publicly at Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab 2010 and streamed on the website of Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2010 and related organizations.
3. For the avoidance of doubt, this agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Japan.
4. The Kyoto Filmmakers’ Lab respects each person’s right to privacy. We do NOT sell or distribute personal information or your samples of work for commercial purposes. Your application data and your sample of work will be treated confidentially. Only the staff of the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2010 has access to your application data.
Additional Information
1. For outside Japan participants, hostel will be provided one day before (December 6) and after (December 12) Kyoto Lab 2010.
2. Participants are welcome to attend our related events on December 11 to 12 including HISTORICA (samurai epic film screenings and seminars) and other creative industry related conferences.
